I have always had a fascination for the martial arts fuelled by watching Bruce Lee films during the early 1970s. As a young man I tried various styles such as Aikido and Karate and, notably, trained at the Crystal Palace Kung Fu Club where I was instructed by Lajos Jakab. Such was the impact on me of this club that I have incorporated many of its exercises and its philosophy into my own club’s training routines.

It wasn’t until I was 40 that I found my true martial arts niche – Wing Chun! When I began this journey I never anticipated the fascination I would acquire for this style and I have never looked back since. I trained initially under Ronald Kho and then Samuel Kwok and each Sifu has shown me different perspectives that have aided in the development of my Wing Chun concepts.

The South London Wing Chun Martial Arts Club was founded in 2008 and has been running ever since. It is through learning to instuct others that my concepts have been developed and expanded, have truly come to fruition, and from which I believe our club’s students also positively gain.
